drum corps-

Alan Dawson - "There are two kinds of drummers. One plays the rudiments and knows it; the other plays the rudiments and doesn't know it."

The Drum Line program is designed for advanced drum kit players interested in Drum Corps Style. This course focuses on rudimental tradition and expression. As a drum line students will collaboratively work through rudiments, rudimental solos, orchestral compositions and improvisation.

This course is a significant study for the aspiring drummer. The rudimental tradition is a fundamental element to the history of the drum kit. A foundation in rudimental drumming enhances students technique, pulse, control, touch and knowledge.

Hand drumming-

"Rhythm is a means of organising sound into specific energy formulas to harmonise the mind and body. Chanting, rhythmic breathing and drumming form an ancient technology for directly synchronising the mind/body complex, creating conditions for psychological and physical healing" - Layne Redmond

the Hand Drumming programs 1, 2 & 3 is designed for students who are excited about learning drums and percussion.

Students will experience highly qualified tuition on djembe, snare drum, orchestral percussion, cymbals, and various hand percussion.

Through the course students will acquire a strong foundation of drum technique and musical literacy.

Class sizes will vary.

Final performance by students, teachers and All-Star Group for friends, peers and family at the end of the program.
